Ingredients/Components
- all-purpose flour, sifted - 2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- double-acting baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- cinnamon
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- allspice - 1 tsp
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- sugar
- eggs - 3 item
- cooked prunes, pitted and drained - 1 c
How to make prune cake:
Sift together first 7 ingredients. In a large bowl mix Crisco, sugar and eggs. Mix for 1 1/2 minutes. Add prunes. Add sifted flour mixture alternately with 1 cup buttermilk. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour batter into two 9-inch layer cake pans, greased and floured. Bake at 350° for about 35 minutes. Remove from pans and cool.
