Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • cinnamon - 1 Tbsp
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • flour - 2 c
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • nutmeg - 1 Tbsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • allspice - 1 Tbsp
  • corn oil - 1 c
  • plus 1 tsp - 1/4 c
  • cooked, drained prunes
  • Beat together corn oil and sugar

How to make prune cake:

Sift together dry ingredients. Beat together corn oil and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Stir in vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Stir in prunes and nuts. In angel food pan, bake at 350° for 45 minutes. When cake is almost done, bring glaze to full boil. Boil 10 minutes. Pour over cake when taken from oven. Cool in pan before removing.Glaze:1 c. sugar1/4 c. butter1/2 c. buttermilk1/4 c. plus 1 tsp. corn syrup1/2 tsp. vanilla1/2 tsp. soda
