Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- butter - 1/4 c
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- vegetable oil - 1 c
- sifted cake flour - 2 c
- white syrup - 1 Tbsp
- eggs unbeaten - 3 item
- salt more if desired - 1/4 tsp
- each: soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice - 1 tsp
- chopped stewed prunes - 1 c
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating between additions
How to make prune cake:
Blend sugar and oil. Add eggs, one at a time, beating between additions. Add vanilla, then alternately, the dry ingredients and milk. Stir in prunes and nuts. Bake in an 11 x 8 x 2-inch pan for 1 hour at 325°.Topping:1 c. sugar1/2 c. buttermilk1/2 tsp. soda1 Tbsp. white syrup1/4 c. butter1/2 tsp. vanilla Cook in large pan on low heat without stirring to soft ball stage.
