Pride of iowa cookies

Ingredients/Components

• brown sugar - 1 c
• white sugar - 1 c
• shortening - 1 c
• eggs - 2 item
• vanilla - 1 tsp
• flour - 2 c
• salt - 1 tsp
• soda - 1 tsp
• baking powder - 1 tsp
• coconut - 1 c
• chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
• quick cooking oatmeal - 2 c

How to make pride of iowa cookies:

Cream the shortening and sugars. Beat in eggs. Add vanilla. Sift together flour, salt, soda and baking powder. Add to sugar, shortening and egg mixture. Add rest of ingredients. Mix well. Either drop from spoon on cookie sheet, flattening the cookies with bottom of glass dipped into flour, or form dough into rolls, chill and slice. Bake at 375° until light brown.
