  • sugar - 3 c
  • eggs - 6 item
  • vanilla extract - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • soda - 1/4 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • Crisco - 1 c
  • flour, sifted - 3 c
  • lemon extract - 4 tsp

How to make pound cake:

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Sift dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately, starting with flour, then buttermilk, ending with flour. Bake in greased and floured tube pan in 300° oven for 1 1/2 hours.
