  • sugar - 3 c
  • milk - 1 c
  • butter - 1/2 lb
  • vanilla flavoring - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • all-purpose flour
  • large eggs - 6 item
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • lemon flavoring - 1 tsp

How to make pound cake:

Cream butter and Crisco until fluffy. Slowly add sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time. Beat after each egg. Add flavorings. Sift flour and sift again. Add baking powder to last sift. Add flavor alternately with milk. Start with flour and end with flour. Cook at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.

Oven temperature may vary. Have butter, eggs and milk at room temperature. Cook in a 10-inch tube pan.
