Ingredients/Components

  • soft butter - 1 c
  • sugar
  • lemon rind, grated or flavor - 1/2 tsp
  • eggs - 5 item
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • cake flour, sifted - 2 c
  • baking powder - 1/4 tsp

How to make pound cake:

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream butter at number 7 speed until soft. Add sugar gradually and continue beating until thoroughly blended. Beat in eggs, one at a time, on number 8 speed. Beat thoroughly before adding each egg. Blend in flavor; add dry ingredients. When all has been added, beat at number 3 speed thoroughly, beating batter. Bake in slow oven at 300° to 325°.
