Potato soup



  • water - 5 c
  • cornmeal - 2 Tbsp
  • pepper to taste - 1 item
  • salt to taste - 1 item
  • stalk celery, chopped - 1 item
  • onion, peeled and chopped - 1 item
  • large potatoes, peeled and cubed - 6 item
  • carrots, peeled and diced - 2 item
  • pure vegetable oil or bacon grease - 3 Tbsp

How to make potato soup:

In a soup pot, combine the first four ingredients with the water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and add salt to taste. Simmer.

Meanwhile, in a small skillet, heat the vegetable oil or bacon grease. Add the cornmeal and pepper. Fry until golden brown. Add this to the soup. Add more water if needed. Cover and cook for 30 minutes until the potatoes are done. Serves 4.
