Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
- confectioners sugar
- baking powder - 1 Tbsp
- melted butter
- melted shortening
- mashed potatoes - 1 c
- warm milk enough to make a soupy consistency - 1 item
How to make potato doughnuts:
Doughnut Glaze:1 1/2 lb. confectioners sugar1 1/2 Tbsp. melted butter1 1/2 tsp. vanilla warm milk (enough to make a soupy consistency) Glaze: Dip doughnuts into glaze. Allow excess glaze to drip off. Doughnuts: Combine mashed potatoes and shortening. Add eggs and milk; beat well. Gradually add dry ingredients and spices, mixing well. Roll dough 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick. Cut with doughnut cutter and fry in hot oil until nicely browned. (A drinking glass and a baby bottle may be used as a doughnut cutter. The top of the bottle makes the holes.)
