  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • freshly ground pepper - 1 item
  • carrots - 1 c
  • potatoes - 2 lb
  • marjoram - 1/4 tsp
  • celery - 1 c
  • chicken stock - 1 qt
  • onions - 1 c
  • Cheddar cheese, cut in 1/4-inch cubes - 1/2 lb

How to make potato cheese soup:

Cut vegetables in cubes; cover with chicken stock. Add the marjoram, salt and pepper to taste. Simmer until the vegetables are cooked. Mash the mixture with a hand potato masher or put through the blender. Return to the saucepan and adjust seasonings. Bring to a boil and add the cheese. Heat just until the cheese is melted, but not thoroughly mixed into the soup.
