Portuguese bean soup
Ingredients/Components
- water - 3 qt
- envelope brown gravy mix - 1 item
- chopped ham - 3/4 c
- chopped celery
- sliced carrots
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- tomatoes or juice - 15 oz
- chopped cabbage - 3 c
- macaroni - 1/2 c
- cans red beans - 2 item
- smoked sausage - 3/4 lb
How to make portuguese bean soup:
Combine all ingredients, in a large covered kettle, except macaroni, cabbage and beans. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to hard simmer. When meat is tender and done, add cabbage, macaroni and beans (undrained). A bay leaf can be added, but is optional. Salt and pepper to taste.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Meat, Pork.
