Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • garlic powder - 1/8 tsp
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 2 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/3 c
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • hamburger - 1 lb
  • celery salt - 1/2 tsp
  • uncooked regular rice - 1/2 c

How to make porcupine balls:

Mix hamburger, rice, 1/2 cup water, the onion, salt, celery salt, garlic powder and pepper. Shape mixture by rounded teaspoonfuls into 12 balls. Cook meatballs in 10-inch skillet until brown on all sides; drain. Mix remaining ingredients; pour over meatballs. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes. (Add water during cooking, if necessary.)

Oven Porcupines: Place meatballs in square baking dish, 8 x 8 x 2-inches. Mix remaining ingredients; pour over meatballs. Cover and cook in 350° oven for 45 minutes. Uncover and cook 15 minutes longer.
