  • flour - 3 c

  • oil - 1 c
  • almond extract
  • baking powder
  • baking soda - 1/4 tsp
  • poppy seed - 2 Tbsp
  • orange juice - 1/4 c

How to make poppy seed cake:

Glaze:2 Tbsp. butter3/4 c. sugar1/4 c. orange juice1/2 tsp. vanilla1/2 tsp. almond extract Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, poppy seed and baking soda in a large bowl. Add milk, oil, eggs, vanilla and almond extract. Beat on low until moistened. Beat on high for 2 minutes more. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 350° for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until toothpick inserted near the middle comes out clean. Cool for 15 minutes. Turn on plate.

Glaze: Melt butter. Add sugar, orange juice, vanilla and almond extract. Cook over medium heat until glaze is smooth and sugar is dissolved. Slowly spoon over warm cake. Serves 16.
