Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 3 item
- milk
- vanilla extract
- salt
- flour - 3 c
- almond extract
- baking powder
- cooking oil
- Crisco - 3/4 c
- poppy seed
- orange juice - 1/4 c
- all-purpose flour* - 2 c
- butter flavor extract
- Pour into greased loaf pans 3 small or 2 regular size disposable
How to make poppy seed bread:
Mix all ingredients together with mixer. Pour into greased loaf pans (3 small or 2 regular size disposable). Bake 1 hour at 350°. Top with glaze.Glaze:1/2 tsp. each almond, vanilla and butter flavor extract1/4 c. orange juice3/4 c. sugar2 c. all-purpose flour*1 tsp. salt1/3 c. milk3/4 c. Crisco *If presifted, may need to add 1/8 to 1/4 cup more.Cut shortening into flour and salt. Seal, burp and shake up and down until mixture forms beads. Dig a hole; add the milk and bury it (cover over with beaded mixture). Seal and burp again. Swirl bowl round and round to shake mixture until it forms a ball. Roll out pastry in usual manner. Makes 2 pie crusts.
