  • cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • flour - 4 c
  • brown sugar - 2 c
  • nutmeg - 2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • baking soda - 2 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • cloves - 2 tsp
  • boxes raisins - 2 item

How to make poor man's cake:

Cream the shortening and brown sugar. Sift dry ingredients. Add with milk. Stir in raisins. Bake in a 350° oven until it starts to leave sides of pan. Makes a large cake.

Nuts may be added, if desired.
