Plum pudding
Ingredients/Components
- shortening - 1/2 c
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- raisins
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- flour - 2 c
- Add spices, milk and flour; mix well
- cornstarch - 1/2 c
- water - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
How to make plum pudding:
Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Add spices, milk and flour; mix well. Stir in raisins and nuts. Steam 1 hour in 9-inch cake pan (I use an electric skillet with 2-inches water and a rack in bottom). Keep water just hot enough to make steam; cover with lid.Caramel Sauce:2 sticks margarine1 c. sugar1/2 c. cornstarch2 c. water1 tsp. vanilla Melt margarine in large saucepan. Add sugar and cornstarch; slowly add water while stirring. Boil until thickened. Remove from heat and add vanilla; mix well.
