Pineapple upside-down cake
Ingredients/Components
- packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- water - 1 item
- maraschino cherries - 6 item
- yellow cake mix - 1/2 pkg
- pineapple juice - 1/3 c
- slices pineapple - 6 item
How to make pineapple upside-down cake:
Melt butter in an 8-inch round glass cake dish in microwave, 30 seconds on High, then mix brown sugar into melted butter. Cook, uncovered, in microwave until brown sugar melts, about 2 minutes at High. Arrange pineapple slices and cherries in dish. Prepare cake batter according to directions on package using 1/2 of ingredient amounts and use pineapple juice and water for liquid. Fill cake dish 1/2 full with batter, cover with a paper towel and cook 9 to 11 minutes on Bake or until done. Invert on serving plate and cool.Note: Any leftover batter can be used for cupcakes.
