Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 2/3 c
  • sifted flour - 2 c
  • ice water - 3 4

How to make pie crust:

Mix flour and salt together. Cut in shortening to size of peas. Sprinkle in water 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing with a fork until all flour is moistened (3 to 4 tablespoons more water may be added if needed). Firmly press dough into a ball. Divide in half. Roll each half out to fit your pie pan, about 1/8-inch thick. Makes 1 (2-crust) pie or two single crusts.
