Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 5 c
  • salt - 1/4 c
  • celery seed
  • medium onions - 6 item
  • mustard seed
  • turmeric - 1 tsp
  • white cider vinegar - 3 c
  • thick cut squash - 4 qt

How to make pickled squash:

Sprinkle salt over onions and squash. Put ice on top; let stand 3 hours. Drain. Mix vinegar, sugar, celery seed, 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed and turmeric. Heat well. Add squash mix. Bring to a boil. Fill jars and seal.
