Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 c
  • salad oil - 1 c
  • dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 2 Tbsp
  • catsup - 1/2 c
  • shrimp - 1 lb
  • Tabasco sauce to taste - 1 item
  • large onion, sliced thin soak in ice water 10 minutes - 1 item
  • 4-5 bay leaves, crushed

How to make pickled shrimp:

Dressing:2 tsp. sugar1 tsp. salt1/2 tsp. dry mustard Tabasco sauce to taste2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce1/2 c. catsup1 c. vinegar1 c. salad oil Bring 1 quart of water to a boil and add shrimp. Boil 2-3 minutes. Cool and peel. Mix dressing. Put a layer of shrimp, a layer of onion, and sprinkle bay leaves in a pint size jar. Repeat process until jar is full. Cover with dressing. Let stand at least 12 hours in refrigerator before serving.
