  • water - 1 c
  • vinegar - 1 qt
  • plain salt - 1/2 c
  • clove garlic per pint - 1 item
  • pod hot pepper per pint - 1 item
  • dill seed per pint - 1 tsp

How to make pickled okra:

Put garlic and pepper in bottom of hot pint jars. Remove part of steam from okra pods. A part of stem must be left on. Pack okra firmly in jars; add dill seed. Use small pods of okra. Bring vinegar, water and salt to boil; simmer for five minutes. Pour over okra and seal jars. Solution makes about 6 pints.
