Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 6 Tbsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • white vinegar - 1 qt
  • garlic cloves, peeled - 5 item
  • celery and mustard seed - 1 Tbsp
  • tender, fresh okra - 2 lb
  • pods hot red peppers or green peppers - 5 item
  • additional bell peppers and sugar to taste optional - 1 item

How to make pickled okra:

Wash okra and pack loosely into sterilized pint jars. Put 1 hot pepper pod and 1 garlic clove in each jar. Bring remaining ingredients to a boil. Pour over okra and seal. Let stand eight weeks before using. If pepper pods are not available, use 1/4 t
