Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- flour - 11 c
- brown sugar - 2 c
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- nuts, chopped - 1 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- white sugar - 1 c
- shortening, use part butter
- dark syrup - 2 c
- baking soda, dissolved in 3/4 c
How to make pfeffernuesse:
Sift dry ingredients together. Mix all ingredients together. Refrigerate 1 day. Take 1 tsp. of batter and roll into ball (approximately size of walnut). Use powdered sugar on hands, if it sticks. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 18 minutes. Bake until no indentation remains when touched. Roll in powdered sugar. Will keep for months at room temperature in a glass container.
