Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 5 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • vanilla - 3 tsp
  • milk - 2 c
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • cocoa - 3 Tbsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • self-rising flour - 1 c
  • plain flour - 1 c
  • large marshmallows - 12 item
  • small can evaporated milk - 1 item
  • frozen coconut - 1 lb

How to make peter paul mounds cake:

Combine shortening, 2 cups sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix the 2 flours and add to the mixture alternately with 1 cup milk. Beat well. Pour into greased and lightly floured cake pans. Bake at 350° until done.

Make filling by combining 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk. Bring to a boil. Add coconut and marshmallows. Stir and boil 5 minutes. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour on cake layers while hot. Mix 2 cups sugar, margarine, cocoa and evaporated milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Frost cake.
