Pesto sauce
Ingredients/Components
- cloves garlic - 2 item
- olive oil - 1 c
- lightly packed fresh basil leaves - 2 c
- pine nuts available in most grocery stores - 3 Tbsp
- Parmesan cheese or Parmesan and romano - 1/2 c
How to make pesto sauce:
Place basil, pine nuts, garlic and cheese in the work bowl of a food processor and process until a near-puree is obtained. Pour oil slowly through the feed tube while the motor runs and scrap down the sides of the work bowl with a rubber spatula once or twice. Run 20 to 30 seconds longer. Remove and reserve. Makes approximately 1/2 cup. This may be frozen. Can be served over pasta and used with seafood and chicken dishes.Recipe categories: Sauces, Savory sauces, Spreads.
