  • 8 oz - 2 c
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • olive oil - 1/2 c
  • small broccoli florets - 2 c
  • each salt and pepper - 1 tsp
  • crushed basil - 1 tsp
  • bow tie or rotini pasta uncooked - 6 oz
  • thin diagonally sliced carrots - 1 c
  • sliced Genoa salami, cut into thin strips - 3 oz
  • red wine or balsamic vinegar - 1/4 c
  • cherry tomato halves or chopped plum tomatoes - 2 c

How to make perfect pasta salad:

Cook pasta; rinse in cold water. In a large bowl, combine pasta, vegetables and salami. Combine oil, vinegar, salt and pepper and add to the pasta mixture. Toss well. Cover and chill at least 2 hours.

If you are chilling overnight, do not add tomatoes at this point, but add the next day. Just before serving, add cheese and toss well.
