Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1/4 c
  • oil - 1/4 c
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • chopped celery - 1/2 c
  • soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • tomatoes, cut in eighths - 2 item
  • green pepper, cut in 1-inch pieces - 1 c
  • beef chuck, cut in very thin strips - 1 lb

How to make pepper steak:

Brown beef in hot oil. Add garlic and cook until yellow. Add soy sauce, salt and 1/4 cup water; cook 45 minutes. (Add more water, if necessary.) Add vegetables; cook 10 minutes.

Stir cornstarch in 1 cup water and add to steak. Stir well. Add tomatoes and cook 5 minutes. Serve over hot, fluffy rice. Serves 4.
