Pepper steak
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- water
- all-purpose flour - 1/4 c
- cooking oil - 1/4 c
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- hot cooked rice - 1 item
- small clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- can tomatoes - 1 oz
- round steak, cut 1/2-inch thick
- beef flavor gravy base - 1 Tbsp
- large bell peppers large dice - 2 item
How to make pepper steak:
Cut steak in strips. Combine flour, salt and pepper. Coat meat strips. In large skillet, saute meat in hot oil until brown on all sides. Drain tomatoes; reserve liquid. Add tomato liquid and water to meat. Add onion, garlic and gravy base. Cover and simmer for 1 1/4 hours, until meat is tender. Uncover. Add Worcestershire sauce. Add bell peppers. Cover and simmer 5 minutes. Add drained tomatoes. Cook 5 minutes more. If thicker sauce is desired, thicken with water and flour mixture. Serve over hot rice.Recipe categories: Main dish, Meat, Beef.
