  • brown sugar - 3 Tbsp
  • cornstarch - 5 tsp
  • vinegar - 3 Tbsp
  • dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • medium onion - 1 item
  • can water chestnuts, sliced - 1 item
  • bacon, fried - 1/2 lb
  • large can green beans - 1 item

How to make pennsylvania dutch green beans:

Brown onion and water chestnuts in hot bacon fat. Drain beans, saving 1 cup liquid. Mix liquid with rest of ingredients and add to onion. Cook and stir until it boils. Add beans and crumbled bacon. Heat well. Serve.
