Pecan pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- egg whites - 3 item
- whipping cream - 1/2 pt
- whole pecans - 15 item
- soda crackers, coarsely crushed - 10 item
How to make pecan pie:
Beat egg whites until very stiff. Gradually add sugar, crackers, baking powder, vanilla and chopped nuts. Thoroughly grease 8-inch pie tin. Spread mixture in pie tin. Bake at 325° for 30 minutes.Note: Pie will raise high while baking, but will flatten out to form "crust" when taken from oven.
Let cool thoroughly. Fill with whipping cream. Garnish with whole pecans.
