Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 3 Tbsp
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • sifted flour
  • pecans - 1 c
  • egg, separated - 1 item
  • soft shortening - 1/2 c

How to make pecan crisps:

Heat oven to 375°. Sift flour, sugar and salt into bowl. Mix in thoroughly with fork the shortening, egg yolk, milk and vanilla. Form into balls the size of a small walnut. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press 1/16-inch thick with bottom of greased glass dipped in sugar. Brush with slightly beaten egg white. Sprinkle with finely chopped pecans. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Do not overbake. Makes about 5 dozen.
