  • sifted flour - 3 c
  • baking powder - 4 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • sugar - 3/4 c
  • chopped pecans - 1 c
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • milk
  • melted shortening - 2 Tbsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • granulated sugar - 1/3 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • flour - 2 c
  • packed brown sugar - 1/3 c
  • grated lemon peel - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • oil - 1/2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • chopped nuts - 1 c

How to make pecan bread:

Combine cream cheese, 1/3 cup granulated sugar and 1 egg, mixing until well blended. Combine dry ingredients. Add oil, milk, 2 eggs and peel, mixing just until moist. Fold in nuts.

Spread 1 cup of batter into a greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan. Top with cream cheese mixture; cover with remaining batter. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan.
