Pear pickles
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- water - 1 c
- cider vinegar - 1 pt
- pickling spices - 2 Tbsp
- sticks cinnamon - 2 item
- ginger root - 1 Tbsp
- quartered pears - 1 item
How to make pear pickles:
Heat together sugar, vinegar, cinnamon, ginger, pickling spices and water. Add pears to the syrup along with 2 slices of lemon. Cook pears until tender when pierced with a toothpick. Remove from heat and let stand overnight.Next morning, remove the pears and heat the syrup. Pour syrup over the pears in jars. Process 20 minutes in hot water bath. Makes 5 quarts.
