Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 10 c
  • Kieffer Pears - 5 lb
  • cans crushed pineapple about 2 c - 2 1/2

How to make pear honey:

Peel pears, remove hard core and discard. Put pears through food grinder using coarse blade. Combine fruit, sugar and pineapple; cook until the mixture is thick and pears are clear. Pour into hot jars and seal or cover with paraffin. Makes 7 pints.

Variations: Lemon Pear Honey - at the beginning of the cooking period add 1 c. lemon juice.

Ambrosia Pear Honey - At the end of the cooking period, add 1/2 c. shredded coconut.
