Peanut butter pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2/3 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 2 c
- cornstarch - 4 Tbsp
- egg yolks - 3 item
- cold water - 1/2 tsp
- boiling water - 1/2 c
- egg whites - 3 item
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- creamy peanut butter - 1/2 c
- meringue cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
How to make peanut butter pie:
Mix powdered sugar and peanut butter. Put 3/4 of the mixture in a baked 9-inch pastry shell. Combine the next 4 ingredients in a saucepan, and cook over medium heat until thick, stirring constantly. Pour custard over peanut butter mixture. Top with meringue made with leftover egg whites. Sprinkle remaining peanut butter mix over meringue. Bake at 325° for 20 minutes or until brown.Meringue: Mix cornstarch with cold water in saucepan. Add boiling water; cook until thick. Cool. Beat egg whites to soft peaks. Add cooled cornstarch mixture. Continue beating until stiff. Add 6 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time. Beat well. Add vanilla.
