Peanut butter pie
Ingredients/Components
- semi-sweet chocolate
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- eggs, separated - 4 item
- evaporated milk - 3/4 c
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- envelope unflavored gelatin - 1 item
- peanut butter - 1/2 c
- honey - 1/2 c
- sugar, divided - 3/4 c
- whipping cream, beaten until stiff peaks form - 1/2 c
- baked 9-inch pie crust - 1 item
How to make peanut butter pie:
Chocolate Glaze:6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate3/4 c. evaporated milk1 c. powdered sugar1/2 c. honey In top of double boiler, sprinkle gelatin over milk. Set over simmering water and stir in 1/4 cup sugar, salt and egg yolks. Beat until just combined, then gently stir until mixture thickens enough to coat spoon. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and beat in the peanut butter. Chill until thickened, but not firm. Beat egg whites until frothy, then gradually add remaining sugar and beat until firm peaks form. Fold egg whites into cooled peanut butter mixture. Heap into prepared pie shell. Chill until firm.Prepare glaze. Combine chocolate and milk in a saucepan. Set over low heat and stir until chocolate is melted. Add powdered sugar and honey. Beat until smooth. Cool completely. Spread over the chilled pie. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
