Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk
- self-rising flour - 3 c
- smooth peanut butter - 1 c
- crunchy peanut butter
- sticks butter - 2 item
- Separate eggs
How to make peanut butter cake:
Grease four 8-inch cake pans and dust with flour. Separate eggs. Set whites aside. In large mixing bowl, cream butter well. Add sugar and cream until smooth. Add egg yolks, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add flour and milk alternately, mixing well, then add peanut butter and vanilla, blending well.Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into prepared batter. Pour into prepared pans and bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool cake on rack at least 30 minutes before frosting. Frost with Peanut Butter Frosting.Peanut Butter Frosting:3/4 stick butter1 1/2 c. sugar2 c. milk1 1/2 c. crunchy peanut butter1 tsp. vanilla In large saucepan, melt butter. Add sugar, milk, peanut butter and vanilla. Cook in top half of double boiler over simmering water, stirring often, until thick and creamy, about 20 to 25 minutes. Cool slightly, then frost cake.
