Peach dumplings
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- milk - 1/2 c
- water - 2 c
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- brown sugar, packed - 1/4 c
- lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
- sliced peaches - 3 c
- Bisquick or pancake mix - 1 c
- melted shortening or margarine - 2 Tbsp
How to make peach dumplings:
Combine peaches, water, sugar and lemon juice in a 3-quart saucepan. Bring to boil. (If using canned fruit, use 2/3 cup sugar and fruit juice instead of water.) Mix remaining ingredients together. Stir lightly. Drop batter from teaspoon on hot mixture. Reduce heat. Cover tightly. Cook 15 minutes without lifting lid. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream or plain.
