Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • baking powder
  • shortening - 3 Tbsp
  • all-purpose flour - 1 c
  • lemon juice - 1 tsp
  • ground cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
  • sliced peaches - 4 c

How to make peach cobbler:

Heat oven to 400°. Mix sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon in 2 quart saucepan. Stir in peaches and lemon juice. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute. Pour into ungreased 2 quart casserole, keep peach mixture hot in oven. Cut shortening into flour, sugar, baking powder and salt until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in milk. Drop dough by 6 spoonfuls onto hot peach mixture. Bake until topping is golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm.
