Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- milk - 2 c
- flour - 6 Tbsp
- butter - 1/2 c
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- Parmesan cheese - 1 c
- tomato paste - 1 Tbsp
- large onion, finely chopped - 1 item
- parsley, chopped - 1 item
- macaroni, cooked and drained - 1 lb
- ground beef or lamb - 2 lb
How to make pastichio:
Bechamel Sauce:6 Tbsp. butter6 Tbsp. flour2 c. milk Parmesan cheese To cooked macaroni mixture, add eggs and butter. Sprinkle generously with Parmesan cheese. In large skillet, cook meat and onion until brown; add parsley and tomato paste. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Add cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside. Spread half the macaroni mixture into 18 x 12-inch baking pan. Cover with all the meat mixture. Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan and top with remaining macaroni mixture.Sauce: In saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour and stir. Add milk; stir until thickened. Pour over macaroni and meat mixture. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese generously. Bake at 325° for 45 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving. Serves 8.
