Ingredients/Components

  • butter or margarine - 1 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • olive oil - 1/4 c
  • salt to taste - 1 item
  • garlic cloves, minced - 5 item
  • dried red pepper flakes - 1 tsp
  • shredded Parmesan cheese - 1/4 c
  • to 3 dashes hot pepper sauce - 2 item
  • mostaccioli or elbow macaroni, cooked and drained - 1/2 lb
  • fresh asparagus, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces - 1 lb

How to make pasta with asparagus:

In a skillet, cook garlic, red pepper flakes and hot pepper sauce in oil and butter for 2 to 3 minutes. Add asparagus, salt and pepper. Saute until asparagus is crisp-tender, about 8 to 10 minutes. Add Parmesan cheese; mix well. Pour over hot pasta and toss to coat. Serve immediately. Yields 4 to 6 servings.
