Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- water - 1/4 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- Crisco - 3/4 c
- food coloring - 1 item
- Icing:1 egg yolk
How to make paintbrush cookies:
Icing:1 egg yolk1/4 tsp. water food coloring Mix shortening, butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla well with spoon. Blend in flour, salt and baking soda. Cover dough and chill for at least an hour. In small bowl, mix egg yolk and water with fork. Divide mixture into custard cups. In each cup add a few drops of food coloring to make different colored icings. Roll chilled dough 1/8-inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut with cookie cutters, place on ungreased cookie sheet. Paint each cookie and decorate. If icing thickens, add a few drops of water. Bake 6 to 8 minutes at 400° or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on wire rack.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cookie and brownie, Rolled cookies.
