Oyster stew
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 4 Tbsp
- margarine - 1/2 c
- Worcestershire sauce - 2 tsp
- black pepper to taste - 1 item
- dashes bottled hot pepper sauce - 2 item
- 1/2 gal - 2 qt
- shucked oysters, undrained - 3 pt
How to make oyster stew:
Blend flour, seasonings and 1/4 cup water in a 3-quart soup kettle. Add undrained oysters and margarine. Simmer over very low heat for 3 to 4 minutes, until edges of oysters curl, stirring gently. Add hot milk; remove from heat and cover. Let stand 15 minutes. Reheat briefly. Top servings with pats of butter. Serve with oyster crackers. Makes enough for 8.It is a Christmas Eve tradition.
