Overnight scalloped chicken casserole
Ingredients/Components
- pkg - 1 oz
- milk - 2 2
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- small onion, chopped - 1 item
- can condensed cream of celery soup - 1 item
- can condensed cream of mushroom soup - 1 item
- can mushrooms optional - 1 oz
- hard-cooked eggs, chopped optional - 3 item
- process American cheese, cubed * - 1/2 lb
- chicken, chopped ** - 3 c
- soft bread crumbs ***
How to make overnight scalloped chicken casserole:
In large bowl, combine soups, milk and cheese. Add chicken, uncooked macaroni, onion, mushrooms and chopped eggs. Stir in 1/4 cup melted butter. Put in greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Cover and refrigerate overnight or at least 8 hours. Toss bread crumbs with remaining butter. Sprinkle over casserole. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 1 hour or until bubbly and golden brown.*May use 1 (8 ounce) jar of Cheez Whiz instead of process cheese.
**May use turkey instead of chicken.
***May use crushed potato chips instead of bread crumbs.
