Ingredients/Components

  • eggs - 4 item
  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
  • can sliced water chestnuts - 1 oz
  • mayonnaise - 1/2 c
  • can cream of mushroom soup - 1 item
  • can cream of celery soup - 1 item
  • parsley - 1 Tbsp
  • chopped, cooked chicken - 4 c
  • jar pimentos - 1 item
  • size - 2 jars
  • slices day-old bread - 8 item
  • to 8 slices American cheese - 6 item

How to make overnight chicken casserole:

Remove crusts from bread. Arrange bread in 13 x 9-inch pan. Top with chicken, then cover with mushrooms and water chestnuts. Beat eggs; blend in milk, mayo and salt and pepper to taste. Pour over chicken. Arrange cheese on top. Combine soups and pimento and pour over cheese. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Before baking, crumble crusts over top, tossed with margarine. Bake at 325° for 1 1/4 hours. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
