Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- c
- round steak tenderized
- can tomatoes cut up
- celery chopped optional - 1/2 c
- carrot, chopped or shredded - 1/2 c
- onion cut up - 1 item
- worcestershire sauce or minute sauce - 1/2 tsp
How to make oven swiss steak:
Cut meat into serving size portions, dredge meat in flour, salt and pepper mixture. Brown meat in small amount of hot shortening, remove and place in shallow baking dish. Put remaining ingredients (except cheese) in skillet and heat to boiling, pour over meat. Cover and bake at 350° for two hours or until tender. If desired, top with cheese, return to oven for a few minutes.Optional: Add quartered potatoes and carrot chunks after first hour of baking, if desired. Push them down into juices, may need to add more water at this point.
