Ingredients/Components
- cracker crumbs - 1 c
- bread crumbs - 1/2 c
- cornmeal - 1/4 c
- can stewed tomatoes or V-8 juice - 1 tsp
- thyme - 1/2 tsp
- celery salt - 1/2 tsp
- melted shortening - 1 c
How to make oven fried chicken:
Salt and pepper chicken about 15 minutes ahead of baking. Mix crumbs, cornmeal and seasonings. Dip chicken in melted shortening and then in crumb mixture and place into greased baking pan. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes. Turn and bake on 325° for 40 to 50 minutes. (Pour a little shortening on top of chicken.)Recipe categories: Chicken, Main dish, Whole chicken.
