Oven caramel corn
Ingredients/Components
- packed brown sugar - 2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- light corn syrup - 1/2 c
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- popped corn unsalted - 9 qt
- jar roasted peanuts optional - 1 oz
How to make oven caramel corn:
Mix brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, cream of tartar and salt in an 8-quart saucepan. Bring to boil. Stir constantly over medium heat. Boil 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add baking soda. Stir well until foam disappears. Pour over popped corn and nuts in a large roasting pan.Bake at 200° for 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes (the mixture will be sticky at first, but will gradually dry out). Cool completely and store in plastic bags or sealed containers.
