Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1 c
- coconut - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- chopped dates - 8 oz
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- nuts - 2 c
- powdered sugar - 2 c
- chopped orange slice candy - 1 lb
- Mix 1/2 cup flour with dates, nuts, candy and coconut
How to make orange slice cake:
Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Mix 1/2 cup flour with dates, nuts, candy and coconut. Cream sugar and butter together well. Add eggs one at a time. Cream well. Alternate flour mixture and buttermilk mixture. Add nuts and fruits. Bake in a greased and floured angel food pan or 3 loaf pans at 350° for 1 hour and 45 minutes.Syrup For Cake:1 c. orange juice2 c. powdered sugar Blend well. Pour over hot cake. Let cool.
