Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- butter - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour
- nuts, chopped - 2 c
- orange juice - 1 c
- can coconut - 1 item
- box dates - 1 item
- bag candy orange slices - 1 item
- Cream butter with the sugar
How to make orange slice cake:
Prepare dates, candy and nuts by cutting up finely and roll in a portion of the flour. Cream butter with the sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, and blend well. Add buttermilk. Stir together the remaining ingredients and add to mixture. Fold in dates, nuts and orange slices. Add coconut. Bake at 250° for 3 hours. Leave cake in pan and frost with the Orange Slice Frosting.Orange Slice Frosting:2 c. confectioners sugar1 c. orange juice Mix well and pour over Orange Slice Cake while still in the pan.
